This Maine base map highlights the location of the state capitol, Augusta, and other major cities throughout the state. Located in the northeast corner of the Continental United States, New Hampshire is the only state that shares a border with Maine. You can see that the northern end of the Appalachian Mountains runs from south to north through Maine and this is where you'll find the state's highest point, Mount Katahdin, at 5,276 feet above sea level, and the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. Mt. Katahdin (web cam) is located in Baxter State Park, in north central Maine, northeast of Moosehead Lake. It's about 45 miles northwest of Lincoln, Maine. |
