Adoption of State March Song

The song, "Louisiana My Home Sweet Home", words by Sammie McKenzie and Lou Lavoy, music by Castro Carazo, was adopted as the official state march song of Louisiana in 1952.

Louisiana Revised Statutes

The following information is excerpted from the Louisiana Revised Statutes, Title 49, Section 155.1. The words are included within the statute.

TITLE 49. STATE ADMINISTRATION
PART VIII. STATE SYMBOLS AND DISPLAY OF FLAGS
SECTION 155.1

§155.1. State march song. There shall be, and is, hereby adopted and established as the official state march song for the state of Louisiana, a musical composition, with lyrics by Sammie McKenzie and Lou Levoy and music by Castro Carazo, and entitled, Louisiana My Home Sweet Home; the said lyrics reading as follows:

   Verse:
    Kissed by the Gulf's mighty stream,
    A lovely state, LOUISIANA,
