offer Connecticut's lowest points, sea level.
With a mean elevation of only 500 feet above sea level, Connecticut is one of the ten lowest
states in the Union.
The higher elevations in Connecticut are in the northwestern part of the state. The
highest point in the state, the
south slope of Mount Frissell,
is located in the
northwest corner of Connecticut,
next to the Massachusetts border, in Litchfield County, about 30 miles northwest of
Torrington.
The high point of the south slope of Mount Frissell is 2,380 feet above sea level. Mount Frissell's peak,
located in Massachusetts, is 2,453 above sea level.
